Disclaimer: Tarot readings should not be taken as absolute claims that something did or did not happen. I only report the meaning of the cards, their relationships and the meaning in the context of those relationships, as well as intuitions I have based entirely on the cards presented in the reading. When/if I say that something happened, in any part of a reading description, I mean that is what I am interpreting from the cards, their positions, and other related factors.
Macin Darrin Smith disappeared on October 1st of 2015. He reportedly got up that morning but was not seen riding his bus to school. He did not go to school either. I was not able to find much information about the search for Macin or details about the investigation into his disappearance. I saw something about the case come up on Twitter and I immediately felt I needed to do a reading on this – for reasons I can’t articulate. This one called to me – if you will. Please know that I have little background information on this case and so I had to keep the reading somewhat short and to the point.
I want to start by saying, I have no way to know what happened for certain. Please do not take any of the information described in the readings as fact until or unless details are proven.
The Five of Pentacles reversed suggests that things were looking up for Macin. The card is reflective of the upright positioning in terms of showing that Macin had experienced challenges and hardships previously, but that he was making positive progress in his life.
The Nine of Pentacles reversed is showing me that Macin was impacted by financial hardships associated with one or more people around him. Cards come up in these readings for reason and so my first question is whether Macin or his parents were experiencing financial difficulties.
The Seven of Cups reversed is pointing out confusion and diversions pertaining to what happened to Macin. Some elements surrounding people’s description of what happened are inaccurate. I will go as far as saying that the entire reading – all the cards as a whole – are showing me active measures have been taken to change the narrative surrounding what happened to Macin.
The Ten of Swords reversed shows that Macin had experienced some very dark times in his past – regarding depression and related issues. However, the positive aspect of the Ten of Swords reversed is that it can signify a release of past suffering and an acknowledgement that things have probably gotten as worse as they are going to get – that there is a path forward for anyone seeking it.
Justice is upright and serves as a reminder that the scales are balanced, one way or the other. Justice is a card that is linked to the concept of karma. It also reminds people that judgement is a reality that all people face. The people this reading is covering will ultimately be judged fairly. Whatever the outcome, the resolution will reflect one that is just. It’s interesting to me that this card appeared halfway into the reading because it feels like a message.
The Moon tells me there are secrets with regard to what happened to Macin. The matter is not as simple as it has been presented. There have been some attempts to cause confusion and keep facts related to what happened from seeing the light of day. This is a card that indicates deception – keeping the truth from the light. There are hidden truths here that need to be uncovered to paint a fuller picture of what happened – or is happening – here.
The Magician reversed is an indication of someone who deceives and cons people. In its reversed position, this card depicts a person who manipulates people by creating illusions or tricking them into thinking something is true that is not. It is also a card that signals things are not as they seem. It suggests a deeper look into whatever question or topic the cards are addressing.
The Ace of Pentacles reversed is another reminder that there is a financial component to this situation. The cards have communicated this element twice. Money factors into all of this. It’s suggesting that one follow the money to get more answers about what happened here.
The King of Swords reversed represents someone with a mature (as in older) and masculine energy or presence. This is a man who manipulates situations and facts in a manner that benefits him. The card represents a person who acts as an obstacle to the truth. Other negative attributes associated with this card in the reversed position include someone who is cold, controlling, dishonest, at times abusive, domineering, irrational, and inhumane.
The card pulled in reference to the King of Swords reversed is the Three of Swords. The message portrayed by this card is a difficult and harsh one. It is showing the King of Swords reversed acting in a manner that caused hurt and was a betrayal. It shows a significant conflict. It can represent a major argument, a breakup, or some kind of separation. Whatever it is, the outcome does not seem like a good situation when this card appears. If this is Macin’s final outcome card it is not good news. Also, these cards are not reading like a suicide.
My hope is that there will be a positive resolution to Macin’s story.
