Disclaimer: Tarot readings should not be taken as absolute claims that something did or did not happen. I only report the meaning of the cards, their relationships and the meaning in the context of those relationships, as well as intuitions I have based entirely on the cards presented in the reading. When/if I say that something happened, in any part of a reading description, I mean that is what I am interpreting from the cards, their positions, and other related factors.
Samantha Sperry vanished from Symsonia/Kaler, Kentucky on March 27th of 2018. She was 25 years old. She had reportedly taken a ride on a four-wheeler into the woods. The man she allegedly rode with said that the four-wheeler got stuck and they had to spend the night there. The man told investigators that he and Samantha made their way to KY 131 and then went separate ways. That seems to be the last known confirmed sighting of Samantha. She has two children.
The first card to come up is Strength. It shows me that Samantha was going through a really hard time when she disappeared, but that she had a strong inner desire to turn her situation around. She was experiencing a sense of courage with regard to facing her problems. She was someone who had a strong nature about her. She had a lot of really positive characteristics that would have helped her to turn her life around if it hadn’t been for the circumstances I am about to describe.
The Five of Pentacles shows her as feeling alone and isolated with regard of some of the suffering she was experiencing. Often this card comes up when there are resources or help available to a person that they either don’t see (or can’t see due to their mental state) or it comes up when they know there is assistance, but they don’t feel like they deserve it. There is a sense of shame and loss and regret that comes with this card on an emotional level.
The King of Cups reversed in these readings never seems to bode well. The card carries a masculine energy and usually represents a person who can come across as unfeeling or tends to respond to conflict in an aggressive or violent way. In the reversed position, this card represent the most extreme negative attributes which can include acts of violence, such as rape and/or murder. I would expect this person to have a criminal record or background. What I’m telling you about this individual should not comes across to those who know him as new information.
I pulled the Moon as the card in direct relation to the King reversed. The Moon points to lies and illusion. Whoever the King of Cups reversed represents is not being truthful. They are keeping secrets and they are deceiving people in such a way that it is intended to draw attention away from them. The narrative surrounding this person’s story is false.
The Devil reversed is showing me that Samantha was trying to get her life back together. She was trying to break free of the ties that bound her to her old life. The card can point to a person working toward recovering from addiction or someone who is making solid plans in their mind to take the steps needed to overcome those – or similar – types of problems.
However, the Six of Pentacles reversed is communicating a sense that there was something, or someone, specific holding her back. There was a power dynamic at play here. The meaning of this card, in its reversed position, suggests the giving of resources or gifts – with strings attached. It can also reflect efforts to extort a person – including emotionally. It could also be someone encouraging her addiction. It is hard to tell with this card sometimes.
The Ten of Cups reversed is showing me that this situation is close to home. The person or people involved are or were a part of Samantha’s day-to-day life. This reading does not point toward a complete stranger being involved. There were problems at home. Domestic types of disturbances and disharmony. If she was living with another person, then it is saying their home life was not good. In fact, there was a desire on at least one person’s part to extricate themselves from that situation as they were slowly coming to the realization that it was unhealthy and dangerous. Samantha is the one that likely wanted to leave.
The Two of Swords is a card that shows a person who is trying to take time to think things through before making a huge decision. The card implies that the person the reading is about – Samantha – did not feel like any of the choices she had were particularly good ones. There was no easy way out of her situation is what I’m saying. She might have been biding her time and looking for an opportunity to get out of it. Sometimes, she may have had a sense of denial about it too – telling herself it wasn’t as bad as it seemed or that it might get better.
The Wheel of Fortune reversed tells me it didn’t get better. Her circumstances and situation turned directly against her. The card also conveys a sense that the situation was beyond her control. She could no longer avoid it, no matter what she did. It wasn’t her fault. She didn’t cause it to happen. Someone else did.
The Queen of Wands reversed shows me a feminine and mature energy (mature as in it represents an adult; not as in the person themselves behaved maturely). People represented by this card exhibit behaviors such as jealousy, manipulative, cattiness, and deceit. I have almost no background on what happened to Samantha and so I do not know who this might represent in her life. Whoever it is, they are coming across as having information. The Page of Wands reversed drives that point home for me. This person has answers about what happened to Samantha – whether they were involved or not. And they will probably talk because the Page card is showing me someone who is loud and can get obnoxious at times. It is also suggesting that even though the person the Queen reversed represents is an adult, they don’t really act like one. It does not even necessarily have to be a woman because court cards can vary in gender and age. The most important aspect of court cards, for me, is their energy and the attributes they describe at any given time.
Finally, the last card is Death. In many readings, Death does not literally mean death. However, I find that when I get this card in missing person’s cases – and there are other foreboding cards throughout the reading – it usually does refer to an actual death. I feel like the cards want to communicate this to someone Samantha knows because her absence, and the lack of answers, is highly distressing to them.
I want to mention a couple more insights I got from this reading. The first is that there is evidence out there that would help to connect the person who caused her disappearance to the “event” if you will. Also, there is at least one other person who knows what happened. It’s possible there is more than one, but this is not a matter where only one person holds all the answers. It is important to look past whatever the narrative is on this one because it’s an illusion. It’s false. It’s meant to confuse and keep people away from the truth. An approach might be to dismiss it entirely and start over as though nothing is as people claim it is – that the truth is far removed from the stories people are telling. This can be solved. Don’t give up. Put aside everything you think you know and look at this situation again. Fight for answers because she deserves that.
I often explain that I have no way to know for sure what happened to someone or if they are out there somewhere – alive. That is always my hope. Do not take any of the information described in the readings as fact until or unless details are proven. Just keep fighting for answers.
